Herman E. Scholtz, MD, has joined Covance as vice president and general manager of global clinical pharmacology services. With more than 15 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including global responsibility for multiple clinical and life science organizations, Dr. Scholtz will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all Clinical Research Units. His responsibilities will include the planning and execution of clinical studies that support initial clinical investigations of drugs, chemicals or devices, and the investigation of compounds for subsequent development.
Dr. Scholtz most recently served at PAREXEL International, where he held the position of corporate vice president and worldwide head, Clinical Pharmacology, and most recently, corporate vice president, Early Drug Development, Clinical Research Services. He also served as chief executive officer of its CRO (previously FARMOVS, acquired in 2000), providing early phase drug development services to the biopharmaceutical industry.
