Bormioli Pharma to Acquire GCL Pharma for €8.9M

Expands industrial footprint by adding new technologies to extend its oral and parenteral product range

Bormioli Pharma, a producer of pharmaceutical glass and plastic primary packaging, has entered an agreement to acquire GCL Pharma, an Italian subsidiary of the Guala Closures Group, specialized in the production of plastic, rubber and aluminum closures for pharmaceutical applications. The transaction, valued at €8.9 million, is expected to close in the next few weeks.

This follows Bormioli’s acquisition of Remy & Geiser completed last Fall, expanding its product range and ability to support the most demanding pharmaceutical needs.

In 2019 GCL Pharma recorded revenue of approximately €8 million. Over the years, the company has grown its capabilities and improved its product range to meet stringent pharma standards. The company’s main premises and production plant are located in Vasto (Chieti).

“With the acquisition of GCL Pharma, we will continue our growth path,” said Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Bormioli Pharma. “We aim to strengthen our industrial footprint by adding new technologies that allow us to extend our product range, especially in the oral and parenteral segments, further activating our business synergies.”
