Nitto Denko Avecia Inc. (Avecia) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Irvine Pharmaceutical Services and Avrio Biopharmaceuticals, both located in Irvine, CA. Irvine provides analytical development services and Avrio is a cGMP parenteral CMO. Avecia will consolidate both businesses into the newly established company, Nitto Avecia Pharma Services.
 
The acquisitions, expected to close in October, will expand Avecia’s analytical capabilities and complement its oligonucleotide drug substance services. “We are excited to work with Irvine and Avrio’s founder, Dr. Assad Kazeminy, a recognized leader in the industry for more than 30 years,” said Detlef Rethage, president of Nitto Denko Avecia.
