Sartorius Stedim Biotech has introduced Sartopore Platinum,the next generation of its sterilizing-grade filters, offering higher productyields and more efficient manufacturing workflows, according to the company.

The surface of the Sartopore Platinum polyethersulfonefilter membrane has been modified using a hydrophilic and thermostable polymer,designed to enhance wetting properties and minimize protein binding to increaseproduct yield. According to the company, fewer than five liters of WFI (Waterfor Injection) are needed to wet a 10” Sartopore Platinum cartridge.

Sartopore Platinum filter cartridges can be dry-steamsterilized in the forward or the reverse direction, and can be used in the pHrange from 1 to 14. Also, the membrane of the filter cartridges uses thecompany’s TwinPleat process, increasing the filter area of a 10” cartridge bymore than 60%, helping to ensure that liquids flow through the entire filterarea and enhancing filtration capacity of the cartridge. The new filtercartridges are available in different sizes and constructions ranging from lab toproduction scale.
