German-based laboratory and pharmaceutical equipment provider, Sartorius, has opened a new 40,000 sq. ft. facility at its North American headquarters in Bohemia, NY.

The New York Sartorius Application Center is designed to give customers access to multiple systems from upstream to downstream processing with a focus on single-use. The demonstration laboratories present equipment according to application and show how individual systems work together for a complete process solution.

The new center features a FlexLab where customers will see a display of Sartorius’s bioprocess equipment portfolio, and where its team will conduct interactive product demonstrations. The facility also features an Applications Lab for additional product testing and customer trials. A Training Center is available where customers can get more in-depth knowledge and specific training for their needs. Lastly, the center offers R&D expertise with a team of scientists and engineers on hand to develop and test products such as single-use bioreactors and freeze/thaw equipment.

Some products available for viewing and testing include: FlexAct MP; FlexAct UD; Sartocheck bag and multitester; Biostat fermenters and Palletanks; lab products like Sterisart, VivaFlow, pipettes and micro balances; arium lab water systems; TAP Biosystem fermenter products; Allpure products; and shaker and thaw systems.

In North America, Sartorius operates as two divisions—Bioprocess Solutions and Laboratory Products and Services—with over 700 employees in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

With the opening of the expanded Bohemia facility, the company now has demonstration labs in China, Germany and the U.S.
