SCHOTT Pharma, a pharma drug containment solutions and delivery systems provider, and KORU Medical Systems, a medical technology company focused on developing innovative subcutaneous infusion solutions, have partnered to offer a high volume subcutaneous drug infusion solution.

The solution is designed to address the market for treatments that are administered subcutaneously and require recurring dosing regimens, such as chronic diseases or cancer. The prefillable polymer syringes from SCHOTT Pharma that are used with KORU Medical’s Freedom System are available in large-volume formats from 5mL to 50mL to meet the need for larger infusion volumes and higher drug viscosities.

“We want to ensure that medications are safe and easy to use for patients and care providers around the world. By combining KORU Medical’s expertise in pump devices with our expertise in large-volume prefillable polymer syringes, we can help improve the time-to-market of infusion therapies while simplifying the subcutaneous drug infusion of large volume drugs,” said Andreas Reisse, CEO of SCHOTT Pharma.

Linda Tharby, President and CEO of KORU Medical Systems said, “With the shift currently happening in the SCIg market from vials to PFS, patients and health care professionals have already begun utilizing our system in conjunction with SCHOTT Pharma prefillable syringes. As the syringes come prefilled with the exact drug dosage and are capable of being delivered via the FREEDOM60 and FreedomEdge Syringe Infusion Drivers, there are no vial preparation steps needed. This is both a simpler process for patients and reduces the risk of administration errors.”
