SMC Ltd., a global contract manufacturer of single use and disposable medical devices, has acquired an end-to-end fill/finish facility in Charlotte, NC. The facility enables SMC to offer a wider portfolio of services to its pharma clients including lab-to-market development, analytical services, device manufacture, fill/finish, final assembly, and secondary packaging.

The state-of-the-art facility compliments SMC’s global manufacturing footprint and capabilities offering high-speed, sterile fill finish lines with onsite formulation, compounding, and packaging.

SMC’s Vice President and General Manager, Uri Baruch said, “There are notable developments in the injectables market – the growth of more complex biologics and the increased interest in delivering large volumes of API. We believe our ability to deliver, at speed, fill volumes from 1ml to 50ml is an unmet need and is already attracting significant attention from our clients and partners.”

“SMC is recognized globally for its ability to deliver complex, complete drug delivery systems with unrivalled speed and agility. This acquisition not only adds to this capability, it reaffirms our commitment to the pharma market and completes another phase of our growth agenda,” Baruch added.

“At SMC, we have a proud 36-year history of innovating for contract manufacturing and pharma services customers,” said Chetan Patel, SMC Ltd.’s CEO. “This new North Carolina facility is another example of SMC adding the expertise, capabilities, and capacity our customers need to be successful. We know North Carolina’s fill finish capabilities will allow SMC and our pharmaceutical customers to form deeper partnerships well into the future.”
