A solid dosage form intended to disintegrate or dissolve slowly in the mouth and usually prepared by compaction in a manner similar to that used for tablets. More correctly termed lozenge. Troches are used as a dosage form delivery to treat a range of conditions. Troche’s offer a unique way to directly administer medicine where it is needed. A key difference between a troche and a pill is the way they are processed by the body. Medicinal troches enter the blood stream via the numerous blood vessels located close to the surface of the skin in the tissue directly under the tongue and in the walls of the cheek.
