Leading Personal Care Manufacturer Optimizes Tank Cleaning Process, Realizes Significant Savings

Company predicts annual water savings of over 275,000 gallons and $260,000 in labor savings, just by updating their tank cleaning process to include Gamajet rotary impingement devices.

A leading personal care manufacturer was looking to update their tank cleaning methods and improve the efficiency of their production process. The Technical Improvement Leader for the company was given the task to update the tank cleaning processing for their mixing vessels. As a major cosmetics manufacturer, a variety of products are made in the vessels including foundations, creams, and products consisting of titanium oxide and silicon.

Prior to switching to Gamajet tank cleaning devices, the standard cleaning procedure for one vessel involved a pre-rinse distributed by spray balls, followed by filling the tanks to capacity with 1,620 gallons of water along with 2% cleaning agent. They would then heat the water to 185° and turn on the agitator. This process took 2.5 hours. Several infamously difficult to clean leftover product residues required a cleaning crew to have to enter the tanks and scrub leftover debris, taking up to an additional 12-16 hours on top of the 2.5 hour fill and drain process.
